Welcome to the CodeVault, the personal website of Alaa Salman.

If I have to describe myself in one word, I would say that i am a programmer. I’m also pretty fun. But, those would be two words…

To put it formally, I’m a full-stack developer with 10+ years of experience across the board. A generalist with experience in dozens of languages and frameworks but most of my recent work involves using Python/Django for web development. My experience includes dealing directly with customers and managing small teams to launch products and services. I currently live and work in Melbourne, Australia but have worked with both local and international clients.

I fell in love with computers at a relatively young age and later made that love official in the form of a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. My education was priceless and taught me the theory and foundations underlying computing machines. I make use of that knowledge as languages and frameworks change in this ever evolving field.

I have an interest in security of mobile devices and worked for a couple of years in academia where I published the following as primary author:

  • Alaa Salman, Imad H. Elhajj, Ali Chehab, Ayman Kayssi, “DAIDS: An Architecture for Modular Mobile IDS,” International Symposium on Frontiers of Information Systems and Network Applications, Victoria, Canada, May 13-16, 2014. Full text available at this link.

  • Alaa Salman, Imad H. Elhajj, Ali Chehab, Ayman Kayssi, “Mobile Malware Exposed”. The 11th ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA'2014). Full text available at this link.
